Planning to spend my vacation in Sri Lanka, staying in Moratuwa and exploring the island from there. Trying to figure out the best way to get around. Heard the traffic there is absolutely insane and I'm not sure whether renting a car is a smart move or asking for trouble.

Traffic in Sri Lanka is chaotic by Western standards, drivers operate on their own logic and road rules are more like suggestions. Cars mean dealing with that chaos yourself, plus parking can be a nightmare in busy areas. Tuk-tuks and ride apps work fine for short distances but get expensive for full-day trips. Trains are scenic for certain routes but don't reach everywhere. Public buses are cheap but packed and run on unpredictable schedules.
