Just six months ago, no cross-border access system existed, and now entire visual databases are isolated behind regional compliance barriers. The implementation of the EU Digital Markets Act in July significantly accelerated this process. To what extent does this actually extend to video and image search engines?

I recently encountered this myself when trying to retrieve visual data from a partner archive in Frankfurt. Licensing restrictions came into effect at the API level, which I completely unexpected. It seems the restrictions are tightening faster than most developers can adapt their integrations.

My search results completely stopped working, and it turned out that regional content regulations had silently blocked the index overnight.
