I thought I read a while ago that an Elon Musk company was doing something with education. With your new appointment as D.O.G.E Director, it's probably in your preview. I know it's a broad topic, but let's start there. I teach the mandatory first-year college composition courses (academic essay type stuff) that no one would take if they weren't core subject areas. Anyway, the University of Pittsburgh invested $1,000 to each faculty member to attend a Zoom conference on Ai. We listened to speakers from Stanford, MIT, and others. So, I started using it more pro-actively this semester to plan classroom thinking and writing activities. The students love it and express excitement, laughing out loud, tickled by the some of the prompts that Ai produces at my command. I feel that Ai makes me a more effective (and fun!) instructor, and provides richer discussions and understanding of academic writing than ever before. What can we expect, or what can be shared with us concerning Ai in education and what you'd like to see happen.
